Water Connects
Exhibition of awarded submissions to the photo and video contest announced on the occasion of Budapest Water Summit 2016

The Capa Center organized a photo and video contest under the title “Water connects” on the occasion of the Budapest Water Summit 2016, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade as well as the Ministry of Human Capacities, for those interested both from Hungary and abroad. Anyone could submit an entry in two categories: photography and video. The photographic series had to consist of a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 images, while videos had to be up to 90 seconds long, and each had to have been created after 2000. 10-10 submissions from each category were chosen by the jury and are now presented in a group exhibition at the Mai Manó House Bookshop and Gallery.
1094 entries were submitted, with 740 entries validated. Great interest is indicated by – according to statistics – how submissions were entered by every hour for a month from 40 countries of the world. In the photo category, there were 701 submissions, while in the video category, 39 videos were entered.
Regarding geographical distribution, including Hungary, entries were sent in from 40 countries, from Algeria and the United States of American through Brazil, Egypt, India, Iran, Poland and Nepal to New Zealand and Vietnam.
Submissions are assessed by a professional jury: Gabriella Csizek, the curator of the Hungarian House of Photography, Viktor Horváth director, Gabriella Lonkai, political consultant, Ministry of Human Capacities, Dániel Kovaloszky photographer, Ábel Szalontai, DLA, Head of Media Institute, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, Hungary.
